Congress Park Halloween 2025 🎃
Schedule for Friday 10/31:
1:30p– Parent helpers can begin setting up for class parties
2:00p– Halloween Parade
Following parade, estimated 2:15p– Halloween Parties in Classrooms
Please help us make Halloween a safe and fun event at Congress Park School by following these procedures:
COSTUMES
Please know that we want this Halloween to be an enjoyable time for everyone. It is in this spirit that we ask you to make sure costumes are school appropriate - no weapons, celebrations of violence or gore.
The morning hours remain intact to preserve classroom instruction. Students will have the opportunity to go home for lunch and to get into costumes. Children are dismissed for the lunch hour at 11:20 (Kindergarteners at 11:10) and need to return back to school by 12:10. Class begins at 12:15.
Children who stay for lunch should bring their costumes to school. After lunch they will have the opportunity to change into their costumes. Assistance will be provided for students that need support to change into their costume.
PARADE
The costume parade will begin at approximately 2:00 PM. The parade will begin and end at door #5. Classes will exit the building, walk south to Congress Park Ave and continue all the way around the school’s block. Classes will re-enter the building at door #5. Parents and visitors may stand anywhere around the parade’s route.
If it rains, the parade will be held indoors for students and staff only. We appreciate your understanding that spectators won’t be able to attend inside, but staff may share photos from the parade in their newsletters so families can still enjoy the celebration.
CLASS PARTY PARENT HELPERS
Classroom teachers and room parents have arranged to include a maximum of four classroom parent volunteers to facilitate a classroom Halloween party. Volunteers will be able to access the classroom to set up for the party from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. before the start of the parade. Please remember that parties will begin as soon as the students return from the parade, so parents should be ready in classrooms by 2:15. Access to classrooms before this time will not be permitted. All visitors must sign in, wear a visitor badge, and enter through the main office.
CLASS PARTIES
Class parties are organized by volunteer room parents, with support and approval of the classroom teacher. Please do not send in any treats, edible or non-edible. A pre-packaged snack and drink will be provided by room parents during the classroom party.
ALTERNATIVE SPACE
Please note that we will offer an alternative space and activity for students who choose not to celebrate this year. We look forward to accommodating all students here at Congress Park.

D102 Student Behavior & Discipline Handbook
As we continue into the school year, we encourage families to take a moment to review the D102 Student Behavior & Discipline Handbook online, which outlines our expectations and helps us all work together to create a safe and respectful learning environment.

Smartphones & Smartwatches policy
D102 asks students to keep smartwatches in lockers or backpacks during the school day, just like cell phones. While we understand families have invested in these devices for communication, they can become a distraction in class. We appreciate your support in minimizing disruptions and keeping our focus on learning and safety.
