Dear CP Community,
This week, I’m focusing on being grateful. Thank you for your work and partnership in making CP a place to thrive. Thank you for celebrating with us and for coming alongside us as we guide students in their learning and development. Our job is made better by your good efforts.
Next week, to celebrate the end of the PTO Cereal Box Challenge, the PTO will be treating all grade levels to a popsicle celebration. If you have a question or concern about your student's participation, please let the classroom teacher know.
Thank you for all you do to make CP a safe and steady place for kids.
Take care,
Ms. Rodriguez

Help CP Design Our New Playground!
Dear CP Families,
We are excited to share that, thanks to the successful passage of the RenewD102 referendum last spring, our schools will be receiving much-needed facility improvements—including the addition of a brand-new playground at our school. This is a wonderful opportunity to create a safe, fun, and engaging play space that reflects the needs and interests of our students and families.
To ensure the playground best serves our community, we invite you to share your thoughts through a short Playground Planning Parent Survey. Your feedback will help guide decisions about the types of equipment, safety features, and spaces that matter most to you and your children.
The survey should take only a few minutes to complete, and your input will directly shape the design of a playground where children can learn, grow, and play together for years to come. We will use your feedback combined with feedback from our student playground design team to recommend a final playground design.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building not just playgrounds, but lasting memories for our students.
With appreciation,
Ms. Rodriguez & Ms. Leon
Principal and Assistant Principal

D102 Student Behavior & Discipline Handbook
As we continue into the school year, we encourage families to take a moment to review the D102 Student Behavior & Discipline Handbook online, which outlines our expectations and helps us all work together to create a safe and respectful learning environment.

Smartphones & Smartwatches policy
D102 asks students to keep smartwatches in lockers or backpacks during the school day, just like cell phones. While we understand families have invested in these devices for communication, they can become a distraction in class. We appreciate your support in minimizing disruptions and keeping our focus on learning and safety.

Student Climate Survey Administration - Fall 2025
In D102, we know that a strong school climate has positive impacts on student achievement, attendance rates, and school safety, as well as creating conditions for developing healthy social and emotional skills. We also feel it is critical to hear the voices of our students.
To help facilitate that communication we provide a Student Climate Survey twice annually, once in September/October and again in May. The survey may be administered in one sitting or may be split into several sections, depending on the classroom schedule.
D102 will gather 3rd-8th grade students’ perceptions of their school climate via an online survey in Google Forms.
Results of the survey are confidential and will not be used to identify individual students. Rather, the data will be used to gather an overarching sense of students’ perceptions. Each building’s leadership team will use the survey results to inform school-wide planning while grade level teachers will use the data to help plan proactive classroom-based morning circles.
Themes identified during the Kindergarten classroom conversations will be collected by the teacher and used to plan proactive classroom-based morning circles. Individual student information will not be collected during these classroom conversations.
For more information see:
Families that wish to opt out of the survey should either contact their elementary child’s classroom teacher or their junior high child’s advisory teacher.
