Dear CP Families,

Thanks to our PTO families for showing up for the last meeting of the year this week. We appreciate what you do for our students and staff!

As we prepare for Field Day on June 2, please watch for upcoming messages from your child’s teacher. Each grade level has been assigned a specific t-shirt color for Field Day. To help improve student safety and make it easier to identify students during activities, families are asked to provide their child with a t-shirt in their grade’s assigned color.

Lastly, we’re so proud of our young musicians. We hosted another musical event at CP today, and our students did an amazing job. Please let your child know how much we appreciate their talent and the music they share with our school community.

Supporting One of Our Own:  The Ortega Family Meal Train

A mother in our school community has been going through a difficult time with an on-going battle of cancer. This has taken a tremendous toll on the family. End-of-Year Library News & Reminders

As we approach the end of another school year, we want to share some important dates regarding our Learning Resource Center (LRC) collections.

Important LRC Dates

Today, Friday, May 15, is the final day for students to check out library books for the school year. Following this date, we ask that families begin checking at home for any library materials that need to be returned.

Keep Reading All Summer!

While school checkout is ending, reading doesn't have to! Students can continue to access our district's SORA collection for eBooks and audiobooks all summer long. Student Climate Survey Administration - Spring 2026

In D102, we know that a strong school climate has positive impacts on student achievement, attendance rates, and school safety, as well as creating conditions for developing healthy social and emotional skills.  We also feel it is critical to hear the voices of our students. To 

help facilitate that communication we provide a Student Climate Survey twice annually, once in September/October and again in May.  The survey may be administered in one sitting or may be split into several sections, depending on the classroom schedule. 

D102 will gather 3rd-8th grade students’ perceptions of their school climate via an online survey in Google Forms. 

Results of the survey are confidential and will not be used to identify individual students.  Rather, the data will be used to gather an overarching sense of students’ perceptions.  Each building’s leadership team will use the survey results to inform school-wide planning while grade level teachers will use the data to help plan proactive classroom-based morning circles.

Families that wish to opt out of the survey should either contact their elementary child’s classroom teacher or their junior high child’s advisory teacher.
